Maritime Centre Redevelopment

This project involved the full podium redevelopment of the Maritime Centre, enhancing both the building’s functionality and its connection to the surrounding urban environment in downtown Halifax.

Arguson provided budgeting, value engineering, pre-construction, and construction management services for the redevelopment, which included the construction of a new addition and entrance pavilion, along with significant modifications to the existing podium. A new glass façade was introduced to bring natural light into the building, with carefully selected colored glazing designed to complement the adjacent St. Matthew’s United Church and respect the site’s historic context.

The scope also included new common area lobbies, an improved streetscape to enhance pedestrian accessibility, and the addition of 100 parking stalls to improve the property’s parking ratio. Approximately 6,000 square feet of new commercial space was added to the existing structure, contributing to the revitalization of the building and the surrounding community.
